Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication

A remnant from the Cold War era, surplus nuclear weapons-grade plutonium is being converted into safe, stable fuel for civilian nuclear power generation with the help of PayneCrest.  We were part of the team contracted by the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to build the Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina. The project aims to fulfill America’s commitment in a landmark nuclear nonproliferation agreement. See the video on this landmark project.
