American Electric Power Corporation's $400 million Flint Creek retrofit project received funding to comply with new stringent US environmental regulations. The construction scope consists of an installation of a NID Dry Flue Gas Desulphurization (DFDG) System and Activated Carbone Injection (ACI) system to mitigate plant emission of sulfur and mercury.
PayneCrest’s portion includes the installation of electrical distribution equipment, 125 V DC system, UPS system, DCS cabinets, lighting systems, fire detection and more. In addition, PayneCrest will perform the installations of 1,275,000 feet of cable, 10,000 feet of cable tray, 70,000 feet of conduit, and 1,200 light fixtures. A crew of over 150 electricians performed the work at peak manpower. The retrofit helps AEP SWEPCO and AECC continue to produce 24/7 power in Northwest Arkansas.
